CREATIVE MOVEMENT CLASSES
In Creative Movement we utilize multiple dance styles of movement and stretches, with a focus on ballet. These classes are tailored to getting our youngest dancers used to a class setting and routine of stretching before moving around the room with fun action songs to keep their attention. Dancers in creative movement also have the opportunity to participate in 2 recitals per year.
This class is offered to ages 4 through 6. This class is split between a half hour of ballet and a half hour of tap. Our Combo class is a very basic introduction to tap, ballet and movement in general. Combo classes will prepare your little dancers for more specialized classes by developing listening skills as well as general body awareness and coordination.
Tap is upbeat with a focus on rhythms. Students will learn how to make music with their feet! Does not require flexibility so it is perfect for students worried about classical technique.
This class focuses on flexibility, technique, and musicality with more controlled movements. Students will learn how to emote their feelings and match them to music. Perfect for expressive students. Still work on body lines, turns, jumps.
Contemporary uses the same core techniques of ballet allowing dancer’s to explore the boundaries outside of classical ballet. It is a newer more expressive form of dance infusing modern and jazz styles. This form can sometimes tell a story.
Upbeat. Students still learn Classical technique and stretches while learning tricks such as kicks, turns, and jumps. We utilize popular radio music in class. This class focuses on flexibility and is perfect for sassy students.
The basis of all dance styles. Students will learn Classical technique and stretches for flexibility. Slower tempo than most other dance styles. Focuses on posture, body alignment/lines, footwork and strength! This class is more controlled and structured, perfect for more all types of students.
HIP HOP CLASSES
Upbeat and high energy! Faster paced movements to popular music. It’s a more grounded street style of dance that focuses on isolated arm and body movements while learning musicality. Less strict lines and movements good for expressive kids.
ACROBATIC DANCE CLASSES (ACRO)
A mix of gymnastics and dance. Students will learn skills such as handstands, cartwheels, rolls, etc. while focusing on flexibility and stylization. No bars or beams, focus on fun floor skills. Due to the pandemic all acro students must bring their own yoga mat.
Our tumbling class is not recomended for dancers who have no previous Acro or gymnastics training. Tumbling focuses on flips and other power moves that sometimes require no hands. Our teachers are always there to spot and help dancers reach their goals of learning aerials, front and back handsprings, tucks and more! It differs from acro in that it does not work on floor work or partnering and does not infuse dance.
